5.5 kg of gold hidden in passenger’s rectum seized at Ahmedabad airport in Gujarat – MASHAHER

Customs officials have seized around 5.5 kg of gold at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad.

During the operation that was conducted in collaboration with customs officials from Kerala, the seized gold was recovered in paste form in the rectum of a passenger travelling to India.

In the past, customs officials have busted gold smuggling rackets wherein smugglers conceal the yellow metal in mixture grinders, CCTV cameras, electric kettles or as gold paste in clothes or body parts.

This financial year, customs officials have seized around 100 kg of gold.

Customs officials, who belong to the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) remain alert and vigilant to track suspicious movement of passengers and resort to intelligence sources to arrest smugglers.
