Roy Hodgson has been taken ill during a training session – amid rumours that the Crystal Palace manager is set to be sacked.

The 76-year-old was due to hold a media briefing at 1.30pm this afternoon, but the news conference was abruptly cancelled.

Media had already begun assembling outside the club’s New Beckenham training ground when they were informed the briefing would not be taking place.

In a short statement, the club said that Hodgson felt unwell on Thursday morning. No further details have been provided.

There have been multiple reports that he will be replaced by ex-Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner.

Crystal Palace are currently 15th in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone, having won just six of 24 games so far this season.

Their two most recent matches have resulted in losses and on Monday, they suffered a 3-1 defeat at home, at the hands of London rivals Chelsea.

Their next game is against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday 19 February.

Hodgson is the premier league’s oldest manager and this is his second stint in charge at Crystal Palace.

He previously managed the South London club’s men’s team from September 2017 to May 2021, and he was then brought back last March, to replace his own replacement, Patrick Vieira.
