Following an intense bidding war, Warner Bros. earned the rights to distribute the next film by Ryan Coogler, starring Michael B. Jordan. The leaders of the film division at Warner Bros. Discovery, namely Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca, confirmed the news about the distribution rights. Not a lot is known about the film except for the fact that it will have an original screenplay by Coogler himself.
The film will bring back the actor-director duo who previously worked together on Fruitvale Station, Creed I, Creed III, and the two Black Panther films. It will be the first project involving the actor and director that Warner Bros. will distribute after co-distributing Creed III with MGM. Abdy and De Luca tasted success earlier with Creed III during their stint with MGM and before they moved to Warner Bros.
Their Warner Bros. film unit has a line-up of exciting films in the pipeline, including Paul Greengrass’ Drowning, Paul Thomas Anderson’s next with Leonardo DiCaprio, and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Christian Bale-starrer.
