Shadow treasurer Steve Thomas used Brian Burke to set up a meeting with prominent businessman John Poynton just two weeks before Liberal Leader Libby Mettam declared her party “does not accept any connection” with the former Premier.
Dr Thomas initially denied any substantive dealings with Mr Burke when first contacted by The West Australian as part of a survey of all Liberal MPs over their involvement with the notorious political fixer.
