Man claims trial to cheating contractor off RM150,000 – MASHAHER



KOTA KINABALU: A local man claimed trial to cheating a contractor off RM150,000 with the promises of getting him a RM1.5mil project to repair a school in 2019.

Sidu Edin, 58, pleaded not guilty before Special Corruption Court Judge Jason Juga to the charge framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code on Tuesday (Feb 27).

The self-employed was accused of receiving RM150,000 from a contractor, Husni Andi Panusureng to help secure an emergency repair works project at SMK Terusan Sugut in Sabah’s east coast Beluran district.

Judge Juga allowed Sidu a bail of RM15,000 with RM3,000 deposited and a guarantor with a permanent address.

The accused was also ordered to report to the MACC office every two months and was prohibited from interfering with witnesses in the case.

He also needs to surrender his international passport.

The prosecution was led by Dzulkarnain Rousan Hasbi while lawyer Mohd Fadzri Azham represented the accused.

Judge Juga set April 2 for mention.
