Major car brands recall more than 1.1 million vehicles for various issues – MASHAHER

Three of the largest car manufacturers in the world have issued a recall notice, affecting more than 1.1 million popular vehicle models.

Drivers across the United States are being warned of a handful of new recalls which could see their cars affected by major safety or security problems.

Volkswagen announced that it would recall around 261,000 vehicles in the United States in response to issues with a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), dealers will replace the suction pump on the affected vehicles for free.

Drivers will be notified if their vehicles need to be recalled

The NHTSA warned: “Fuel may flow into a separate evaporative (EVAP) emissions system and possibly leak out of the charcoal canister.”

The recall includes certain front-wheel drive 2015-2020 Audi A3 Sedan, 2019-2020 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, 2018 Golf Sportwagen vehicles, among others, Reuters reported.

If drivers are affected by the issue, they can expect to receive an owner notification letter after April 12, 2024.

Toyota has also been forced into major recalls of 381,000 Tacoma models over fears welding debris could cause some nuts to loosen over time and 280,000 pick-ups and SUVs which may have faulty transmissions.

The most recent recall, of 381,199 vehicles, said the issue can affect stability and brake performance.

Customers will be notified by mail in late April if they are impacted, with dealers set to inspect rear axles and tighten retaining nuts.

The previous recall covers certain Toyota Tundra pick-up trucks, Lexus LX 600 SUV models and some 2023 and 2024 Toyota Sequoia SUVs.

In a statement, Toyota said: “Certain parts of the transmission may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position.

“This can allow some engine power to continue to be transferred to the wheels and can allow the vehicle to inadvertently creep forward at a low speed when it is on a flat surface and no brakes are applied, leading to an increased risk of a crash.”

In the most recent recall, the NHTSA announced that Hyundai Motor America has recalled 186,588 cars.

The recall has been launched in response to possible failures of the trunk emergency release.

New rules were introduced towards the end of 2023 in the UK to allow drivers to know when their car has been included in a recall notice.

It is expected to inform the motorist on what the fault is, what they should do next and who they should contact for more information.
