A senior constable in the Queensland police force has been suspended after he was charged with rape and sexual assault.
The male officer, in his 50s, from the far north region was charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
The alleged sexual offences took place while the officer was off duty.
Police allege the officer was known to the victim.
He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 21.
