In the plea, SKJMN president and advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh said well holds significance as it was “built by Lord Krishna’s descendant Vajranabha”.
“We told court that Holi is a major event in the Braj area and we should be allowed to perform puja at the site…,” he said. Previously, the mosque committee had opposed Hindu worship at Krishna Koop.
Singh added, “No order restricting the worship at Krishna Koop has been issued by either the administration or the court. Attempts to prevent Hindus from worshipping at that site are contested. There is historical evidence to prove that elaborate festivities used to take place at the site around Holi.” Mahendra claimed that earlier, people used to come for the mundan ceremony of their children at the site and take the water from Krishna Koop, also known as ‘Chaturdik Samudayik Koop’(well with water of four seas). The hearing of the matter has been scheduled on March 13.
