IPOH: Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming’s mother has received some threatening notes in front of her house in Ayer Tawar, Manjung.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the 76-year-old had found numerous papers scattered in front of her house while she was coming out on Thursday (March 7) at about 10.15am.

ACP Mohamed Nordin said the notes contained the writings “Nga Kor Ming (Jangan Cabar Islam)” (Don’t Challenge Islam).

“She believes that the wordings have ill intentions.

“The case has been classified under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication, whereby those convicted can face up to two years in jail or with a fine or both,” he said in a statement.

ACP Mohamed Nordin said the police were trying to track down the individual responsible for the act.

“The case is now under investigation and we are still trying to determine the cause.

“The police would like to advise the people not to speculate as it could jeopardise the investigation,” he said.

“We also urge those with information to come forward to the police or contact investigating officer Insp Fariq Nazmi Mustafa at 013-331 7099 to help with the investigation,” he added.

Attempts are being made to get Nga for comments.

In a statement put up by the state DAP committee on its Facebook page, it said that the party firmly condemned the actions by the irresponsible party.

“It clearly violates the law, besides contradicting the values of a civilised society.

“We leave it to the discretion of the police to investigate and deal with the case,” it said.

“We uphold the rule of law and believe that every individual has the right to voice their opinions without having to worry about being threatened or physically attacked,” it added.
