Mr Hunt has signalled he wants to go further by abolishing National Insurance altogether and could make the policy the “centrepiece of the Conservative re-election bid”, according to the Daily Telegraph. It quotes him telling a dinner on Wednesday night that “all else equal, lower taxes are better for growth”. It adds, though, that the move “would cost about £50bn, drawing scepticism from policy experts over whether it would be realised”.
