Anwar directs Felda, LTAT to explain losses reported in Auditor-General’s Report – MASHAHER

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has directed Felda and the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) to present their explanation on the losses reported by the Auditor-General’s Report.

The Prime Minister said the two entities were given two weeks to do so.

“We want a full report to be submitted so that any weaknesses identified can be corrected.

“If the findings require action to be taken, we will have to do it,” he said after performing Friday prayers here.

The Prime Minister said the Cabinet would also be deliberating the report to be submitted by the two entities.

Asked if there was a need to set up a special committee to look into the losses recorded by Felda and LTAT, Anwar said what was important now was to study the Auditor-General’s Report and hear the explanations by the agencies.

“The important thing is that we need to stop the rot, flaws and weaknesses and try and redeem (the situation),” he added.

On March 6, the Auditor-General’s Report revealed that the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) had suffered losses of RM1bil.

In the same report, the Auditor-General said that LTAT’s reserves had been negative since 2020.

Meanwhile, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) announced that it will probe LTAT’s losses after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“Although the Auditor-General had listed three agencies for the PAC to concentrate on, namely Felda, LTAT and Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), PAC has decided to look into LTAT first,” said its chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
