James Anderson becomes first pacer to take 700 Test wickets | Cricket News – MASHAHER

NEW DELHI: James Anderson of England became just the third bowler in world cricket history to take his 700th wicket in a Test match on Saturday.
The 41-year-old became the first fast bowler to achieve the milestone when he removed Kuldeep Yadav on the third day of the fifth Test against India in Dharamshala.
He is behind spinners Muttiah Muralitharan (800 wickets) of Sri Lanka and the late Shane Warne (708 wickets) of Australia.

Anderson got overnight batsman Yadav to edge a length delivery outside off and celebrated as teammates gathered around him.
The veteran pacer raised the ball to a standing ovation from the crowd.
Anderson came into the series 10 away from the mark and started the final match on 698 wickets.

He played his first match at Lord’s against Zimbabwe in 2003, and he has since participated in 187 games.
Dubbed the “swing king” for his ability to swing the ball both ways, Anderson has 32 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket and an average of less than 27.
Shoaib Bashir, who took 5 wickets in India first innings, wasn’t even born when Anderson made his Test debut.
