HISAR: A professor and his eight-year-old daughter were found dead at the Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) in Hisar, Haryana.
The bodies were discovered with cuts to their throats, inflicted with a surgical blade. The professor, identified as Sandeep Goyal, 35, had been battling clinical depression and it is believed that he took the life of his daughter before ending his own.

Concerned when they did not return, Goyal’s wife went to the university and discovered his scooter parked outside the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology office. Upon finding the office door locked, she alerted the security guard, who then discovered the scene. The police were immediately notified.
Sandeep Goyal, a resident of Narwana in Haryana, worked as an Assistant Professor at LUVAS since 2016. He lived with his family in the government quarters on campus.
Goyal’s father is an accountant in Narwana. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Mohan, Goyal had been receiving treatment for depression and had shown signs of suicidal tendencies.
The police are currently investigating the case and have called in the mobile forensic unit for further examination. Mohan stated, ‘We have questioned everyone in the locality and his family.
According to his colleagues, he was receiving treatment from a psychotherapist. He was suffering from depression. We will be able to know about his exact medical condition after speaking to his doctor.
Everyone is saying that he was depressed and under treatment. He had suicidal tendencies as well.’ The authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.
