Sea Dogs head coach released from hospital after collapsing during QMJHL game – MASHAHER

The head coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs has been released from hospital after collapsing during the third period of a QMJHL game on Saturday in Sydney.

The game at Centre 200 was halted with the Cape Breton Eagles leading 6-0.

Travis Crickard “collapsed behind the bench,” according to an email from a Cape Breton Eagles spokesperson Brad Chandler.

Both teams were directed to the dressing rooms while medical staff attended to the coach.

“Ultimately, the decision to suspend the game was made,” the email stated.

Crickard spent the night in hospital. After undergoing some tests he was declared “out of danger,” a QMJHL spokesperson confirmed to CBC.

A social media post from the Saint John Sea Dogs on Sunday afternoon said Crickard had been released from hospital and was headed to Saint John to see his family.

“What happened last night was scary,” stated the post.

CBC News tried to reach Crickard for a statement, but did not hear back.
