Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take the stage at the grand finale event of India Today Conclave 2024 on Saturday. “He will speak on ‘Redefining Bharat’ with the Lok Sabha elections looming around the corner.
PM Modi will be speaking on the second day of the conclave which has been organised under the theme ‘Brand Bharat: An Assertive Nation in an Uncertain World’.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY 1
Among the eminent personalities that were on focus on the first day of the conclave include Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, former Union minister P Chidambaram, Indrani Mukerjea, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke on the now-scrapped electoral bonds, the Indian economy, cryptocurrencies and freebies offered by parties ahead of elections.
She said the narrative of a link between the donations made by companies through the electoral bonds and the investigation against them by probe agencies was based on “assumptions”.
Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy spoke on their relationship over the years, and the decision to not include the author as part of Infosys’ founding team.
Their session was followed by a discussion on the Indo-Pacific region and Army Chief General Manoj Pande said India needs to play a more proactive role. He also spoke on the border standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) entering its fourth year.
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu spoke about how she has always been “uncomfortable about her sexuality” and her health.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took the stage and dismissed the criticism against the electoral bonds scheme, saying it was implemented to “wipe out black money”. He also made his first remarks on the Citizenship Amendment Act since its implementation and said both “Muslims and Hindus of Pakistan occupied Kashmir are our own”.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON DAY 2
After the enthralling discussions and performances from the first day of the conclave, there is more in store on the second and last day.
Apart from PM Modi, whose program will bring the conclave to a close, several other leaders will share their opinions on a variety of subjects.
Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Union Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh chief ministers Mohan Yadav, Vishnu Deo Sai and leaders of the INDIA bloc are some of the political leaders who will grace the India Today Conclave stage.
Sadhguru, Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef and internet personality Orry will also delight the audience at the conclave.
