The Chicago Bears are trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 sixth-round pick that can convert into a fourth-round pick based on playtime, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.
Fields joins Russell Wilson in an overhauled quarterback room that doesn’t return any players from the 2023 roster after the team traded 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Eagles on Friday afternoon. Pickett had expressed a desire to be traded following Wilson agreeing to terms with the team late Sunday night.
Fields, though, will not compete with Wilson for a starting job, a team source told ESPN. Instead, Fields is expected to learn from the Super Bowl winner and nine-time Pro Bowler in Pittsburgh.
ESPN’s Brooke Pryor contributed to this report.
