Assembly polls: EC changes counting date of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim to June 2 | India News – MASHAHER



NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India on Sunday changed the counting schedule for assembly elections to Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim from June 4 and June 6 to June 2. No changes with respect to the schedule for Parliamentary constituencies have been made to the states.
In an official statement, EC said, “ECI is to conduct election to Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim before the cessation of their terms…”, further adding that the term of both the assemblies is set to expire on June 2.
“In view of this, the commission has decided to amend the following in respect of Schedule for General Election to State Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim only”, the statement added.
The revised schedule comes a day after EC announced the dates for Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

The assembly elections for Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim would be conducted on April 19.
Last date for making nominations in Arunachal Pradesh have been set as March 27 while last date for withdrawal of candidatures have been set at April 19.
As announced on Saturday, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1.
