Two teenagers have died, another is in a critical condition, and a fourth was injured following a crash between a car and a lorry in Stirling.

The collision, involving a black Vauxhall Corsa and an HGV, happened on the A91 at around 3.50pm on Sunday.

Emergency services attended and the rear seat passengers of the Corsa, two males aged 17 and 19, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 17-year-old male driver of the car was taken by air ambulance to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The front seat passenger, a 17-year-old female, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment and was later released.

The 29-year-old male driver of the HGV was not injured.

Police Scotland said he was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further enquiries.

The crash occurred between the Bannockburn Interchange and Greencornhills Roundabout.

The road was closed for investigation works and eventually reopened at around 2.40am on Monday.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for information.
