Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Bachchan brought humour to the Amazon Prime Video slate announcement event in Mumbai. Abhishek announced two forthcoming films – ‘Be Happy’ with Remo D’Souza, and an untitled project by Shoojit Sircar. Varun, who has previously worked with both directors, jokingly accused Abhishek of ‘stealing’ his directors.
The playful exchange was shared online. Varun, who was hosting a segment at the event, welcomed Abhishek on the stage and asked, “Why are you stealing all my directors?” Abhishek jokingly responded to Varun and said, “You’re my inspiration. I want to be like you.”
Varun responded to him by saying, “That’s a lie. You are our inspiration,” to which Abhishek said, “Give me your directors or give me your dad (David Dhawan).” To this, Varun responded, “You give me your dad (Amitabh Bachchan) then,” and both broke into laughter.
Abhishek’s upcoming film, ‘Be Happy’ is centered around a father’s unwavering determination to fulfill his daughter’s aspirations and discover genuine joy, ‘Be Happy’ is produced by Lizelle Remo D’Souza and boasts a collaborative writing effort from D’Souza, Tushar Hiranandani, Kanishka Singh Deo, and Chirag Garg. Alongside Bachchan, the film features an ensemble cast including Nora Fatehi, Nasser, Inayat Verma, and Johnny Lever.
Varun Dhawan will be seen in the Indian spin-off of ‘Citadel’, titled, ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’. Directed by Raj and DK, the series will also feature Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
