Blaze threat in Perth’s southeast downgraded – MASHAHER

A bushfire alert for parts of Armadale on Perth’s southeast outskirts has been downgraded to a watch-and-act as the blaze eased in intensity.

Emergency authorities said on Friday night the bushfire – in the area bounded by Albany Highway, Admiral Rd, Kunzea Rd and McAllister Rd in the southern part of Bedfordale and eastern part of Ashendon – is stationary.

Earlier warnings said the bushfire was expected to threaten lives and homes.

Residents were still being advised to leave for a safer place if the way is clear, and if not, to be ready to shelter in their homes.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said 125 firefighters are fighting the blaze and strengthening containment lines.
