In one of the most memorable scenes in Ivan Reitman’s classic 1984 comedy Ghostbusters, Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman stares down a gluttonous, green apparition in the Sedgewick Hotel, and ends up covered in ectoplasm.
“He slimed me,” Venkman tells Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz, which led to this particular ghost being forever known as Slimer.
