The BJP on Sunday announced its fifth list of candidates for the April-May Lok Sabha elections, which featured prominent names. The party has fielded 111 candidates from different Lok Sabha seats.
Notably, the saffron party has nominated actors Kangana Ranaut from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi and Arun Govil, famed for his role as Lord Ram in the popular TV show Ramayan, from his hometown Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
Other heavyweights fielded by the BJP are former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy from Rajampet, union ministers Nithyanand Rai (Ujiarpur) and Giriraj Singh (Begusarai), industrialist Naveen Jindal from Haryana’s Kurukshetra, JMM supremo Shibu Soren’s daughter-in-law Sita Soren from Jharkhand’s Dumka, former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar from Belgaum in Karnataka, Sambit Patra from Odisha’s Puri, Maneka Gandhi from Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur, and former West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh from Bardhaman-Durgapur in West Bengal.
