KOTA TINGGI: The Johor Education Department is currently investigating a teacher for allegedly selling ketum in Pasir Gudang.
Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin said he had requested the department to look into the matter following a social media post claiming the teacher was involved in the matter.
“We will share the information once they (the Education Department) have completed their investigation,” he said when met by reporters after the Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Johor (YPJ) Bubur Lambuk and Al-Quran recital programme at the college,here on Tuesday (March 26).
Earlier, an X (formerly Twitter) user using the name “Wawawehhh” uploaded a post claiming that a male school teacher is allegedly selling ketum in Pasir Gudang.
At the time of writing, the post had gained more than 1.7 million views.
Meanwhile, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said police are still investigating the claims made by the X user.
“Our initial investigation revealed that the post is related to a police report on Jan 11 this year made by a woman who claimed that she had been sexually abused by her husband.
“The incident occurred in October last year at 11pm at a house in Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang.
“The suspect, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on Jan 13 at 7.15pm and was placed under remand until Jan 19.
“He has been released on police bail, and the case has been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office, which is currently waiting for further instructions,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, which carries a maximum of 20 years in jail and whipping if found guilty.
