A 28-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal district ended her life after killing her two minor daughters by hanging on Tuesday night.
According to police reports, the woman, identified as Sangeeta Yadav, also attempted to hang her one-and-a-half-year-old third daughter, who miraculously survived.
In the suicide note, Sangeeta alleged that she had to take the extreme step due to her husband’s desire for a male child. She also mentioned her physical inability to bear another child in the letter.
She claimed that her husband, Ranjeet Yadav, had physically abused her because she had not given birth to a male child.
Six years ago, before getting married to Ranjeet Yadav, Sangeeta had lived with her parents at Salamatpur in Raisen district. Ranjeet Yadav has a small business in addition to farming, which is his family occupation.
Before taking her life, Sangeeta wrote five messages to her sister-in-law Mona and brother Neeraj, detailing her mental and physical struggles.
In one message to her sister-in-law, she expressed her husband’s desire for a son, stating, “your brother says that he has nothing to do with daughters and wants a boy, so I have killed all three of my daughters, and I’m killing myself.”
