Thoothukudi MP candidate Kanimozhi took aim at Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Thursday, suggesting that he avoided contesting in Karur constituency due to fear of former minister V Senthil Balaji, who is currently jailed. Balaji had contested from Karur previously.
Kanimozhi’s remarks came in response to Annamalai’s earlier comments made during his campaign in Karur, where he mentioned Senthil Balaji’s imprisonment. “There was a minister (Senthil Balaji) from Karur. He is currently in jail,” Annamalai said during his campaign in Karur.
Campaigning for Congress candidate Jothimani in Karur, Kanimozhi alleged that Jothimani faced suspension from Parliament for questioning matters related to the Karur constituency.
“If you ask questions from inside Parliament you’ll be suspended and if you ask questions from outside, you’ll be jailed,” the DMK MP said addressing the people of Karur.
Kanimozhi asserted that the BJP stands little chance of winning a seat in Tamil Nadu.
