Cloud seeding ops under way in Sabah – MASHAHER

KOTA KINABALU: Cloud seeding has begun in Sabah on Thursday (March 28).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor shared the news on Facebook together with some photographs.

On Wednesday (March 27), he said this was one way to tackle the drought in the state.

“Cloud seeding will be done in several areas on the east and west coast, including Pulau Sebatik. We hope this can help produce rain in the areas affected by drought in Sabah,” Hajiji added.

The operation is being conducted from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Labuan.

“The cloud seeding team departs from Labuan. May everything go smoothly,” Hajiji said.

The cloud-seeding initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the Malaysian Meteorological Department, with the cost fully borne by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).

It is expected to go on until Saturday (March 30).
