Congress ticket for Karnataka netas’ kin, Moily out | India News – MASHAHER

BENGALURU: Congress on Friday announced candidates for Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur, Bellary and Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituencies, with two nominees hailing from political families, reports Anil Gejji. With this, Congress has given tickets to the kin of six ministers in CM Siddaramaiah’s cabinet and relatives of six more senior functionaries.
With only Kolar pending, at least two-thirds of LS candidates owe their candidacy to family legacy.
In Chikkaballapur, Raksha Ramaiah, son of former minister MR Seetharam, got the ticket despite intense lobbying from former CM Verappa Moily and former minister Shivashankar Reddy. Reddy’s discontent has led to threats of party defection, with speculation suggesting Siddaramaiah’s support for Ramaiah’s candidacy. Ramaiah is slated to face BJP’s K Sudhakar, a former minister.
