Openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine got Kolkata Knight Riders off to a blazing start, scoring 85 for no loss in the Powerplay against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2024 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.
In the process, the duo helped KKR register its second-highest PowerPlay total in the IPL.
The highest PowerPlay total for KKR is 105 for no loss against the same opponent in 2017. It is also the highest PowerPlay total in the history of the IPL.
Incidentally, Narine was the same opener for KKR back then and helped KKR to become only the second team to cross the 100-run mark inside the first six overs alongside Chris Lynn.
Chennai Super Kings is the only other team to have breached the 100-run mark inside the PowerPlay in the IPL.
