Union Minister and BJP-led NDA candidate V Muraleedharan will file his nomination from Attingal constituency in Kerala on Saturday with the money given as a “token of respect” by the students returned from Ukraine.
The students and their parents visited the BJP state office to meet Muraleedharan on Friday and handed over Rs 25,000 — nomination fee for the Lok Sabha elections — to him.
The students said, “This is a token of respect and gratitude for the efforts to evacuate us from Ukraine.”
V Muraleedharan expressed his gratitude to the parents and students who were evacuated by the government during the period of conflict in Ukraine.
He said, “During the last five years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s government, the most satisfying work for me personally was the various evacuation operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s motto has always been ensuring the safety and security of every Indian wherever he or she is. His contacts at the highest level with the heads of governments across the world have facilitated these evacuations,” he said.
Sai Shruti, a student who returned from Ukraine, said they were evacuated due to the efforts of PM Modi and Minister V Muraleedharan.
V Muraleedharan is up against sitting Congress MP Adoor Prakash and CPI(M)’s V Joy in Attingal. Attingal is one of the constituencies where a three-way contest is expected.
