Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP’s decision to deny tickets to some of its leaders has stirred the pot in Karnataka. The party’s decision to field K Sudhakar from Chikkaballapur constituency has not gone down well with the supporters of BJP MLA from Yelahanka, SR Vishwanath.
Vishwanath had sought a ticket for his son Alok from the same seat. However, the party chose Sudhakar as its candidate from the Chikkaballapur constituency.
Following the BJP’s announcement, Vishwanath’s supporters started a ‘Go back Sudhakar’ campaign against the former minister.
On Sunday, K Sudhakar went to meet SR Vishwanath, but was reportedly told that he was not at home.
Sudhakar also tried to reach out to Vishwanath over the phone multiple times, but could not connect with the BJP MLA.
Karnataka will be voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in two phases on April 26 and May 7.
The BJP and the JD(S) have forged an alliance in the southern state, with the former likely to contest 25 seats, and the latter three seats, sources have said.
The BJP swept the 2019 general elections in Karnataka, winning 25 out of the 28 seats in the state. The Congress and JD(S), which fought the elections together, secured one seat each.
