Former Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao, Revanth Reddy spar over phone tapping row – MASHAHER

A war of words erupted between Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLA KT Rama Rao and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over allegations of phone tapping in the state.

During a party meeting, KTR suggested that if any tapping occurred, it might have been limited to a few troublemakers or criminals. He dismissed Congress’ claims as “exaggerated drama” aimed at diverting attention from unfulfilled promises by the Congress.

“Maybe the police have tapped a couple of troublemakers or thieves’ phones. It is their job. They (Congress) are exaggerating it as an international scam,” said KTR.

Responding to KTR’s remarks, Revanth Reddy accused him of “shamelessly” admitting to phone tapping activity and called for accountability, alleging that the BRS government had tapped phones and filed cases against those who voted against them.

“The previous govenment has threatened, filed police cases and tapped phones of those who voted against them,” Revanth Reddy said adding, “You (KTR) will be sent to Cherlapalli jail.”

Meanwhile, BJP’s Hyderabad Candidate Madhavi Latha raised suspicions of AIMIM’s involvement in the phone tapping, citing their friendly alliance with BRS. She demanded a probe into AIMIM’s role in the matter.

Telangana Cabinet Minister Komitreddy Venkat Reddy, in an exclusive conversation with India Today, stated that the issue would be discussed in the next cabinet meeting. “I request the High Court to take Suo Moto against KTR and all those involved in this phone tapping issue,” Telangana minister said.
