Amruta Khanvilkar, recently featured in ‘Lootere’, discussed her career development and the challenges she encountered during the pandemic and its aftermath. In a recent interview with IndiaToday.in, the actress elaborated on the shifts in opportunities for her since the rise of OTT platforms.
Amongst a bunch of leading male actors, Amruta was the only female actor in ‘Lootere’ who had a challenging role to deliver. When Amruta was asked about her career and facing issues in her acting projects, Amruta answered, “If I have to be frank and honest then pre-covid my career graph was going quite differently than what it is right now. I did projects like ‘Raazi’, ‘Malang’ and ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and then Covid happened which changed everything for me 180 degrees. Post which there was an OTT boom which has me now literally struggling again.”
Speaking of her struggles, Amruta adds, “What I have learned from my experience over the years is that it’s okay to have a solid body of work and cherish your last project but eventually you have to move on from that and go to your next because that’s how you will be evolving and staying relevant.“
She adds, “One has to adapt and keep moving forward. Even for ‘Lootere’, I had my script and dialogues in place but once we reached our shoot location in Africa, the circumstances were larger than all of us. There were some inevitable challenges that we had to face during our shoot one of them being navigating through over 150 people who came there to watch our shoot on the cruise in the area where we were shooting. So as an actor, one has to drop what and how one has worked in the past and reinvent and work on the new project as it’s their first. This just makes us more aware as actors and even human beings. ”
‘Lootere’ is a gripping new web series on Disney+ Hotstar that dives into the perilous world of Somali piracy. Helmed by director Hansal Mehta, the show is reportedly based on the real-life hijacking of an Indian ship in 2017.
Lootere explores the human cost of piracy, where the lines between victim and villain blur. As the hostages face a harrowing ordeal, the series promises a thrilling exploration of survival, courage, and the fight for freedom. With new episodes dropping every Thursday, Lootere is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
