Boult and Chahal set up victory cruise for Rajasthan – MASHAHER

Kiwi seamer Trent Boult and legspinner Yzvendra Chahal toook six wickets between them as Rajasthan Royals cruised to victory over Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

Boult took 3-22 and Chahal 3-11 to restrict Mumbai to 9 for 125 on Monday as Rajasthan moved top of the table.

Rajasthan knocked that off with 27 balls to spare, Riyan Parag scoring 54 not out as they won by six wickets on 4 for 127.

While unbeaten Rajasthan are top, winless Mumbai lost a third straight match and prop up the rest.

Put in to bat at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai were 4 for 20 in 3.3 overs. Boult struck twice in the first over, dismissing Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for first-ball ducks.

In a strange turn of events, Mumbai opted for an immediate impact substitution, subbing Dhir out of the game for Dewald Brevis, who was out for a first-ball duck. Boult claimed three wickets in 10 deliveries.

Ishan Kishan could also have gone but Rajasthan didn’t review an lbw before Brevis’s dismissal. Kishan was caught behind off Nandre Burger seven balls later though, on 16.

Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya – booed again by restless home fans at the toss – and Tilak Varma added 56 runs off 36 balls to revive Mumbai.

The revival was wrecked by Chahal. He got Pandya to hole out for 34 off 21, followed by Varma for 32 off 29. Piyush Charma was dismissed and Chahal had three wickets as Mumbai crashed to 7 for 95.

Aussie Tim David helped restore some respectability to the score but he was ninth man out, caught by Boult off Burger for 17.

When Rajasthan batted, young Mumbai pacer Akash Madhwal picked up 3-20 but the hosts were never in with a chance.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught off Kwena Maphaka, and out-of-form Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson were removed by Madhwal.

Rajasthan were 3 for 48 in the seventh over and a comeback was possible, but that was quickly thwarted by Parag, who unleashed five fours and three sixes.

Parag raced to 50 off 38 balls for his second straight half-century.
