Oh how the tides have turned in college baseball.
March gave us all the drama with last season’s powerhouses faltering and sliding in the rankings as we approach midseason in just a couple of weeks.
Arkansas looks like the nation’s best team and has been ranked No. 1 for four straight weeks, with Wake Forest dipping all the way down to 21 as the Demon Deacons have 10 losses already on the year. Last year, Wake Forest lost only 12 games during the regular season and postseason combined. LSU has also taken quite the spill from its dominant title run last season, and the Tigers are ranked at No. 18 with a 20-9 record.
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for April. Here are the players we’re currently watching plus the latest top 25.
Players to watch
Travis Bazzana, IF, Oregon State
What’s there to say about Bazzana other than he is playing absolutely lights-out for Oregon State. He has hit 15 home runs and 37 RBIs already this season, and he has the Beavers ranked in the top five in the country. In late March, he had a leadoff home run in four straight games, and it’s safe to say Bazzana is not anyone pitchers want to face. It’s no wonder ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel placed the infielder at No. 2 on his MLB draft rankings.

Kendall Diggs, OF, Arkansas
Diggs has been on his A-game for the Razorbacks this season. He has hit six home runs and is well on pace to surpass his total of 12 from last season. He has also recorded 28 hits to go along with 21 RBIs, and there doesn’t seem to be anything that will slow him or the Razorbacks down. Just this past weekend, Arkansas swept defending national champ LSU in a three-game series.
