After Veere Di Wedding, the first major all-women starcast film to arrive in theatres is Crew. There may have been a few all-women films that may have released intermittently but none had the kind of star appeal that Crew boasts of. To have Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon come together is simply amazing as they represent three different generation of audiences set 10 years apart.
The good part is that each of the three actresses carries a good appeal. Tabu is known for her performance-based roles and it’s good to see her let her hair down for this heist comedy thriller. Kareena has been fun over the years, and it would be nice to see her in a feisty avatar. As for Kriti, she has gained good popularity over the years amongst youth and her recent hit Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya would help. Moreover, Ekta Kapoor has really promoted this film well with a superb trailer and then sustained campaign.
All of this will ensure that Crew takes a good start at the box office. In fact, pre-pandemic, it would have been assured of a double-digit start. Even now it has the potential to go over Rs. 10 crores but then there is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire arriving too and that too in a much bigger way. Hence, a reasonable number would be Rs. 7-8 crores and considering the current times, it would be healthy enough. But the real surprise would be if it can go beyond that as well. Now that would be something.
