Bersatu leaders call for stern action over Kuching firebomb attack – MASHAHER

KUCHING: Authorities must take stern action against the perpetrator of the firebomb attack on a KK Super Mart outlet here, say Bersatu leaders.

Bersatu Youth deputy chief Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said there must be no compromise in dealing with groups who deliberately incite tension and fear in the country’s multi-religious and multi-racial society.

He added that such incidents could threaten the safety of the public and shop workers.

“An immediate investigation must be carried out to find the person responsible for this act of extremism.

“Public cooperation is also needed to channel information to the police,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 2).

Lukanisman called on Sarawakians not to take the matter lightly but to be calm and mature in understanding the issue surrounding the socks issue involving a KK Super Mart branch.

Meanwhile, Bersatu Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki urged the police to track down the perpetrator of the incident, which he said could be described as attempted terrorism.

“As citizens of Sarawak and this nation, we abide by the rule of law. We should not and must not take the law into our own hands,” he said.

Ibrahim added that Sarawak had shown itself to be a model state in terms of unity among its diverse communities.

“I think all of us are in the same boat in our condemnation of this heinous act and that violence of any kind is intolerable and has no place in Sarawak,” he said.
