Heavy rain lashed parts of Australia’s southeast on Friday triggering flood warnings, with residents being urged to avoid unnecessary driving trips. A severe weather warning was issued for a large area of the New South Wales state coast, and parts of southern Queensland state coast. Sydney received more than 100 mm (4 inches) of rain on Friday morning with more intense storms on the way.
