MELAKA: Melaka Government sticks to its two-week ultimatum issued to civil servants in resolving public complaints.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh (pic) said the move was an added value emphasised by his administration, which wanted to look into the issues affecting the people and immediately provide an effective solution.
“The aspect of solving people’s problems mustn’t take a long time, and if possible, all services rendered by government officers at counters or administrative matters should be resolved within two weeks,” he said after delivering his address at a Thanksgiving ceremony held in conjunction with the anniversary of Ab Rauf’s one-year administration as the 13th Chief Minister at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) here on late Friday evening (April 5).
Ab Rauf said key performance indicators (KPI) were already in place, and the service rendered to the people was measured annually.
“This added-value service was seen as a yardstick to ensure the best results for the agency itself and create harmony and sustainability for the people,” he said.
Asked whether he was satisfied with his officials’ performance, Ab Rauf replied that he would leave it to the people to judge, as they were the ones who could evaluate his administration’s achievements.
“I would like to express my appreciation to all the state assemblymen and executive council members who have contributed immensely to realising my vision of developing Melaka,” he said.
During the event, Ab Rauf also announced that 60 people-centric initiatives were successfully implemented within the first year of his administration.
He said the initiatives meant for the well-being of the state covered various sectors, including tourism, investment, industry and the people’s socioeconomics.
Ab Rauf also announced several special incentives in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya, including free parking from April 10 to April 16 involving all local authorities with a financial implication of RM457,000.
“We will also reduce the parking compound rate for compounds issued from 2020 to 2023 for payments made between April 6 to April 30 with financial implications amounting to RM4.24mil and reschedule the disconnection of water supply by Syarikat Air Melaka Berhad until April 23, involving 102,686 registered accounts with outstanding water bills totalling RM6mil,” he added.
