Thiruvananthapuram: Left Front accuses BJP’s Rajeev Chandrashekhar of hiding assets in poll affidavit – MASHAHER

The CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against BJP’s Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar for allegedly filing a false affidavit during his election nomination.

Earlier, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) filed a similar complaint against the Union Minister.

The LDF’s Thiruvananthapuram election committee filed a complaint against Rajeev Chandrasekhar, alleging that he did not declare all his assets in the affidavit correctly.

In the complaint, the LDF alleged that Rajeev Chandrasekhar was not eligible to contest the election, citing that he showed his total income as Rs 680 in the financial year 2021-22.

The LDF also alleged that Chandrasekhar did not disclose his major holding company — Jupiter Capital – – and only declared subsidiary companies to hide the “complex web of companies with the intention to hide his actual assets”.

BJP’s hopes will lay on Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s shoulders in Thiruvananthapuram, whose biggest challenge will be sitting MP and senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

Former Union Minister Tharoor has been a potent force in Thiruvananthapuram and has won the Lok Sabha seat thrice since 2009.

Kerala will vote for the Lok Sabha elections in the second of the seven phases on April 26. The counting of votes will be done on June 4.
