IPOH: The decree by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia to forge closer ties and strengthen unity must be respected and upheld by all, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
He said that the sensitivities of Malaysia’s multi-racial community must be respected and added that political leaders must issue statements responsibly.
Speaking to reporters at the Dukut Maharajo descendants’ Hari Raya gathering at Kampung Kepayang on Wednesday (April 10), Ahmad Faizal added that Islam is a religion of tolerance, one where the practising of other religions is allowed.
“We don’t insult your religion and God, and the others must do the same when it comes to the beliefs of Islam. Everyone must understand this, and I believe this way Malaysia is able to return to living in a harmonious community where we respect each other,” he said.
On the recent socks and shoes issues, the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president said he did not see the word “Allah” on the sole of the shoes.
“As for the issue concerning the socks, I think we can move forward with the apology. At the same time we must not forget that Allah’s name was insulted, which is 100% not acceptable,” he added.
