BRS leader K Kavitha sent to CBI custody till April 15 in Delhi liquor policy case – MASHAHER

New Delhi:

Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha – arrested in March in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam – has been sent to custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation for three days.

Ms Kavitha, who is ex-Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter, is accused of being part of a ‘south group’ that paid crores as bribes to Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party for liquor licences under the now-scrapped policy. The ED believes the AAP used this money to fund poll campaigns, and has arrested three senior leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in this regard.

Ms Kavitha was arrested – in dramatic circumstances, which involved a spat between her brother KT Rama Rao and a team of ED officials – from Hyderabad last month and sent to the agency’s custody. She was arrested by the CBI – while in Delhi’s Tihar Jail on judicial custody – on Thursday evening.
