REWA: A six-year-old boy, who fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, tragically passed away after being trapped for two days, an official said on Sunday.
The incident occurred in Manika village near the Uttar Pradesh border at around 3pm on Friday, where the child fell into the 40-feet-deep borewell while playing.
Rescue teams including SDERF, NDRF, and local authorities worked tirelessly to save the boy.
Oxygen was supplied into the 70-feet-deep borewell, and additional pits were dug to reach the child.
Despite the relentless efforts, the young boy could not be rescued from the borewell.
Collector Pratibha Pal said the child was located on Sunday after 40 hours of rescue operation but he was ‘unresponsive’.
“The boy was located at around 8 am. We made all efforts but could not save the child as the borewell was too narrow,” Pal said.
The body was sent to a hospital for postmortem, she added.
