Australian Twenty20 captain Mitch Marsh sent home from IPL for hamstring treatment – MASHAHER

Australia’s Twenty20 captain Mitch Marsh has left the Indian Premier League and returned to Perth to treat a hamstring injury.

Marsh missed Delhi Capitals’ past two matches with what is believed to be a partial tear and has been brought home by Cricket Australia.

With Marsh set to lead the country at this winter’s World Cup, there is a chance the allrounder is held out of the remainder of the tournament, but that decision is reportedly yet to be made.

Marsh was out for a duck in his most recent game on April 3. He had been opening the batting for the Capitals alongside retiring Australian teammate David Warner.

He had not passed 23 in any of his first three matches.

The Allan Border Medal-winner has had a career-best 12 months, including a famous Ashes century and his most consistent home summer yet.

Warner has also been sent for scans after being struck on the finger against Justin Langer and Adam Voges’ Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.

Australian tyro Jake Fraser-McGurk made a blistering half-century on debut for the same franchise in that game.
