Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said that Alejandro Garnacho has apologised for his controversial social media activity after the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth and the club has moved on from the incident. Garnacho was taken off at half-time during the stalemate against the Cherries and wasn’t too happy with the call made by Ten Hag. After the match was done, the Argentine would go on to like a few tweets that criticised Ten Hag for taking off the youngster, which created an uproar amongst the fans.
Speaking ahead of United’s FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City, as quoted by Reuters, Ten Hag said that the issue has been put to bed. The Dutch tactician also said that Garnacho is a young player who has to learn a lot.
“Alejandro is a young player, has to learn a lot. He apologised for it and after that we move on,” Ten Hag said.
FA Cup semi-final will be a huge challenge: Ten Hag
Ten Hag went on to say that he expects the semi-final against Coventry City to be a huge challenge but wants to find the solutions to their problems and get into the final.
“Obviously, we want to win every game,” Ten Hag told reporters on Friday. “So when we don’t win we are disappointed, are frustrated, sure, but we know also we can beat the best teams.
“When we play to our levels, we can achieve really high highs.”
“Last season was last season. We want to achieve every season, we want to win trophies, we have a big opportunity because we are in a semi-final but it’s a huge challenge,” said Ten Hag, whose job future has been the subject of speculation this season.
“We know all the problems and always when you have so many problems you have to find solutions, so on Sunday we will find solutions and we want to go into the final.”
Ten Hag is hoping to have Antony, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire for the match on Sunday.
“We have some problems. Harry had a small injury so he hasn’t trained so far this week, but now he is back on the pitch,” the manager said. “We expect him back in team training today. He will be available for Sunday, I hope.”
