Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ Earns Third Daytime Emmy Nomination – MASHAHER


Variety has earned its third Daytime Emmy nomination for the “Actors on Actors” series, with the first coming in 2019.

The PBS SoCal series pairs up actors for candid discussions about their recent work and thoughts on the entertainment industry. The nominated season features interviews with actors discussing their television projects including Emily Blunt (“The English”) with Brian Cox (“Succession”), Taron Egerton (“Black Bird”) with Rachel Weisz (“Dead Ringers”), Elle Fanning (“The Great”) with Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”), Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”) with Steven Yeun (“Beef”), Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”) with Natasha Lyonne (“Poker Face”), Kieran Culkin (“Succession”) with Claire Danes (“Fleishman Is in Trouble”), Jennifer Garner (“The Last Thing He Told Me”) with Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”), Brett Goldstein (“Ted Lasso”) with Theo James (“The White Lotus”), Katherine Heigl (“Firefly Lane”) with Ellen Pompeo (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Jennifer Coolidge (“The White Lotus”) with Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”), Jason Segel (“Shrinking”) with Ali Wong (“Beef”) and Hayden Christensen (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”) with Diego Luna (“Andor”).

Film actors who were spotlighted in “Actors on Actors” ahead of Oscar season included Margot Robbie (“Barbie”) & Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”); Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”) & Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Things”); Emily Blunt (“Oppenheimer”) & Anne Hathaway (“Eileen”); Halle Bailey (“The Little Mermaid”, “The Color Purple”) & Rachel Zegler (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”); Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) & Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”) and Colman Domingo (“Rustin,” “The Color Purple”) & Jacob Elordi (“Priscilla,” “Saltburn”).

“Actors on Actors” has previously won a Daytime Emmy and a Los Angeles Area Emmy Award.

“Actors on Actors” is nominated in the arts and popular culture program category alongside “Billion Dollar Babies: The True Story of the Cabbage Patch Kids,” “King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch,” “Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter,” “Oprah and ‘The Color Purple’ Journey” and “Working in the Theatre.”

The 51st Daytime Emmy Awards will air live on June 7 at 8 p.m. ET, delayed PT, on CBS, and will be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+.
