A Chicago police officer heading home from his shift was shot and killed overnight, authorities said.
The slain 30-year-old officer was shot multiple times and had his car taken, Chicago Police Department officials said during a news conference Sunday morning, according to Chicago ABC station WLS.
The officer, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
No arrests were announced.
