‘El Paso, Elsewhere’ Film in the Works With LaKeith Stanfield In Talks – MASHAHER

Hit neo-noir video game “El Paso, Elsewhere” is heading for the big screen in a new film adaptation.

Academy Award nominee LaKeith Stanfield (“The Book of Clarence,” “Judas and the Black Messiah”) is in talks to star in and produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s Di Bonaventura Pictures (the “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe” franchises). Colin Stark would also produce.

Released in 2023, indie game “El Paso, Elsewhere” was developed by Strange Scaffold, the development label of BAFTA-nominated game developer, writer, and voice actor Xalavier Nelson Jr. The third-person shooter draws inspiration from “Max Payne,” “Quake” and “Hotline Miami.”

In 2024, it was nominated for best indie game at the New York Game Awards and for outstanding achievement for an independent game at the D.I.C.E. Awards.

Recovering from a toxic relationship, James Savage (Stanfield) confronts both his inner demons and enigmatic ex-girlfriend, Janet, before she executes a world-ending ritual, per the film’s official logline. James navigates her reality-bending universe of ethereal monsters while facing the truth of his own addictions and skewed sense of self-worth. James learns that the only route to love is through healing.

Stanfield’s film credits include “Knives Out,” “Death Note,” “Sorry to Bother You,” “Haunted Mansion” and “Uncut Gems.” On television, he starred as Darius in Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” for four seasons, and most recently starred in “Changeling,” which he also executive produced.

Stanfield is represented by CAA, Stark Management, ID, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis. Di Bonaventura is represented by CAA. Strange Scaffold is represented by CAA.
