Pakistani singer Abrar ul Haq recently shed light on his decision to decline offers from Bollywood, including a movie featuring actress Katrina Kaif. Speaking in Urdu, Abrar expressed concerns over restrictions in the contracts he was offered, particularly regarding the sensitive topic of Kashmir.

In a podcast interview with Hafiz Ahmed he stated, “I didn’t understand their contract, ‘You can’t speak, you can’t talk about Kashmir, etc.” Emphasizing his belief in the freedom of expression, Abrar stood firm in his decision, remarking that such clauses conflicted with his principles.
Abrar disclosed that he had received offers not only for films but also for music albums in India. However, his reservations about the imposed limitations on speech and expression led him to reject these opportunities. One notable offer came from the renowned Indian production company, Eros, for a movie starring Katrina Kaif. Despite pressure from friends, Abrar remained steadfast in his stance against participating in Indian films, highlighting his commitment to principles over popularity.
This revelation comes after Abrar ul Haq made headlines in 2022 for taking legal action against Karan Johar and T-Series over the alleged unauthorized use of his song in the Bollywood movie JugJugg Jeeyo. The controversy underscored the challenges faced by artists navigating the complex landscape of intellectual property rights and cross-border collaborations in the entertainment industry.
