NEW DELHI: As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, a major highlight of it was the omission of middle-order batter Rinku Singh from the 15-man squad.
The hard-hitting batter was one of the favourites to be in the squad, but the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee thought otherwise, and included him only as a reserve player.
The T20 World Cup will be played in the US and the Caribbean, starting June 2.
Although the left-hander is among four reserves alongside opener Shubman Gill and pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, social media was pretty upset with Rinku’s non-selection in the main team.
In the ongoing IPL, Rinku had a dip in form amid lack of opportunities, which might be one the reasons why selectors ignored him for the marquee ICC tournament.
