Congress-AAP on same page in Delhi, appoint an observer each for seven seats – MASHAHER

The Congress and its INDIA alliance partner Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have appointed an observer each for all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi to ensure a smooth election campaign, leaving nothing to chance following Arvinder Singh Lovely’s resignation as Delhi Congress chief recently.

“Both the Congress and AAP have resolved to work with complete coordination and understanding in the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi to ensure the victory of all the seven candidates,” Chairman of the Communications Department of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and former MLA Anil Bhardwaj said.

The move will be aimed at ensuring that the election campaigns are held in a smooth and effective manner between the Congress and AAP leaders and workers, he added.

The Congress is contesting three seats – Chandni Chowk, North West Delhi and North East Delhi, while the AAP has fielded its candidates in East Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi and West Delhi constituencies.

“A meeting of the Co-ordination Committee will be held tomorrow (Friday) to draw a roadmap for the joint campaigns of the INDIA Alliance in all the seven Lok Sabha seats. The programmes will include public meetings and roadshows in the constituencies, jointly organised by the INDIA bloc,” Anil Bhardwaj added.

Bhardwaj further said that the district presidents of both the Congress and AAP would chalk out the framework for complete coordination for the smooth campaigns of the INDIA Alliance.

The Kirari District Congress Committee, under the leadership of District president and former MLA Shri Surender Kumar, held a meeting attended by office-bearers, former MLAs, municipal councillors, block presidents and office-bearers for the preparation of Devender Yadav’s swearing-in ceremony as the DPCC Interim President on Sunday. Anil Bhardwaj and senior leader Inderjit Singh also attended the meeting.

Besides, Congress North East Delhi candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, who will file his nomination on May 6, held a meeting with Delhi minister Gopal Rai at his residence to plan campaign strategy for the May 25 polls in Delhi.

Chairman of the Election Management Committee and Co-ordination Committee Subhash Chopra, former Delhi Minister Dr Narender Nath and Adesh Bhardwaj were present on behalf of the Congress while AAP was represented by MLA Dileep Pandey, Durgesh Pathak and Sanjeev Jha, along with municipal councillors and party workers.

Newly-appointed Interim President of DPCC Shri Devender Yadav will take formal charge on May 5, 2024 at DPCC office.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate for the North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat Dr Udit Raj is scheduled to file his nomination papers before at Kanjhawala at 12 noon on Friday.

Also, Congress candidate for the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat Jai Prakash Agarwal will file his nomination papers on May 4, Anil Bhardwaj informed.

“All the three Congress candidates, after filing their nomination papers, will release a Vision Document Manifesto highlighting the problems and remedies in the respective Lok Sabha constituencies they are going to contest,” Anil Bhardwaj said.
